Grayscale Bitcoin Premium Income ETF (BPI) Stock Analysis
BPI offers asymmetric Bitcoin volatility income, but sub-scale AUM, heavy ROC distributions, and liquidation risk make it a speculative satellite holding.
Overview
BPI is an actively managed NYSE Arca ETF launched April 2, 2025, designed to convert Bitcoin volatility into biweekly income while preserving more upside than near-the-money covered-call products. It uses synthetic long exposure to GBTC and BTC, writes short-dated out-of-the-money calls, and holds 40%–85% of assets in Treasury Bills and money-market funds. Grayscale earns a flat 0.65% fee on AUM, but the fund’s AUM contracted to $2.018 million by August 14, 2026, with 100,000 shares and a $20.18 NAV. The $20.24 market price represented only a 0.27% premium to NAV, while the 30-day median bid/ask spread was a relatively wide 0.44%. **The central issue is scale:** current AUM generates only $13,119 of annualized advisory fees and requires sponsor subsidization. **Income quality is also weak:** the 9.15% distribution rate was approximately 75%–100% ROC. The fund’s one-year price change was negative 52.41%. The report’s five-year probability-weighted price target is $22.94, supported by potential Bitcoin recovery, higher implied volatility, and RIA model-portfolio placement, but the near-term setup remains bearish and consolidated near the $18.55 52-week support floor.
