Cardinal Infrastructure Group Inc. (CDNL) Stock Analysis
Cardinal Infrastructure’s explosive growth and $866 million backlog meet a sharp margin reset, creating an attractive but execution-dependent recovery opportunity at a depressed valuation.
Overview
Cardinal Infrastructure Group (NASDAQ: CDNL) is a vertically integrated civil site-development platform serving growing markets in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Central Florida. Founded in 2013 and public since December 2025, it self-performs site preparation, earthworks, underground utilities, and paving for residential, commercial, industrial, municipal, and institutional customers. Its owned fleet of more than 300 assets and in-house crews differentiate it from fragmented local contractors, while its addressable Southeastern market exceeds $35 billion. Q2 2026 revenue reached **$226.93 million, up 113.9% year over year**, including 64 percentage points of organic growth, and backlog hit a record $866 million. Yet profitability weakened: EPS fell to $0.26, gross margin contracted to 10.8%, and Adjusted EBITDA margin declined to 12.4%. Management raised FY2026 revenue guidance to $880–$900 million but cut margin guidance to 16%–18%. After a 36.2% one-day post-earnings drop, shares were around $15.50, at approximately 7.8x consensus FY2026 EPS and 2.8x midpoint forward EV/EBITDA. Near-term catalysts are H2 margin normalization and integration of higher-margin acquisitions; execution remains the key uncertainty.
