Clicks Group’s resilient healthcare franchise is temporarily mispriced after WMS disruption, with normalized execution and competitive relief offering substantial five-year upside.
Overview
Clicks Group is a JSE Top 40 healthcare, beauty and wellness retailer with a defensive integrated model spanning Clicks stores and United Pharmaceutical Distributors (UPD). Retail generated approximately R37.6 billion, or 78.6% of FY2025 turnover, while UPD contributed R10.2 billion of direct external revenue. The group’s competitive position rests on 1,003 stores, 800 dispensaries, 12.9 million active ClubCard members and 24.9% retail pharmacy market share, within a corporate duopoly with Dis-Chem. H1 2026 turnover rose 7.4% to R24.9 billion and diluted HEPS increased 8.1% to 652.8 cents despite a Cape Town warehouse-management-system disruption that reduced retail turnover by approximately R175 million. **The near-term setback has pushed the share price down roughly 35% year-to-date to 22054 ZAc and compressed trailing P/E to approximately 16.2x from above 20x historically.** Management maintained FY2026 diluted HEPS guidance of 4%–9% growth. Normalized supply-chain execution, 40–50 annual store and pharmacy openings, buybacks and potential regulatory pressure on Dis-Chem’s loyalty program are the principal catalysts. The report’s base case implies 40950.59 ZAc in five years and a 16.16% annualized return including dividends.
